LAHORE (March 15 2010): Golfer Daniyaal Jehangir on Sunday won the trophy in 2nd National Bank Golf Tournament played at the par-72, Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course over 18 holes.
In the event, apparently there was hostility amongst the leading single handicap amateurs and the gross section winner Daniyaal Jehangir who managed to achieve this ascendancy through a round of sustained golfing skill application that involved, power hitting off the tees on all par-4's, meticulous shot placing accuracy on the approach shots and avoiding any putting hiccups.
At no time during the round was he under any restraint as was apparent from his score of gross 73 achieved through five birdies and nine pars.
The field of 90 aspirants consisted of over a dozen potential aspirants, eager to win, and though they played well, victory evaded them because they could not reflect ease on many of their six foot putts which included players like Salman Jehangir, Sardar Murad, Alam Sethi, Shoaib Shams, Murad Khan and Aleem-ur-Rahman.
Players who secured the second and third slots in gross category were Mohsin Anwer(74) and Mohsin Zafar(75). As regards the events in other categories, the winner in ladies section showed good powers of recovery to edge past Samea and also Marayama Khan to win the ladies gross. In the ladies net the winners were Mrs. Samea Javed and Maimoona Azam. At the conclusion of 2nd National Bank Golf Tournament, Abrar Mumtaz and Mian Kausar Hameed Director NBP, awarded prizes to the winners.
