Strike badly hampers online banking, other businesses: PTCL suffering Rs 10 million revenue loss daily
LAHORE (September 07, 2010): The ongoing strike of employees of the biggest telecommunication service provider, PTCL, for the past one month has disturbed on-line banking, internet/DSL facility and business activities in the country. Besides, the company is suffering revenue loss of Rs 10 million per day as its 0.245 million telephones remain dead and sales of its products have stopped in the country, PTCL officials told Business Recorder here on Monday.



WCA nominates Ufone for best brand award
KARACHI (September 07, 2010): Ufone has been nominated for the Best Brand Award by the esteemed 'World Communication Awards (WCA)' committee which is the most prestigious telecom awards around the globe and as some may call it, the Oscar of the telecom industry. Wateen network survives floods
KARACHI (September 01, 2010): Wateen Telecom Limited has one of the largest Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) Networks in Pakistan with over 10,000 kilometres of cable connecting major towns and cities across Pakistan. Wateen's OFC network, by the Grace of God, withstood recent floods in Sindh and Punjab without any major reported damages.



Nokia launches new mobile applications for Ramazan
KARACHI (September 01, 2010): Nokia recently announced the launch of a new range of mobile applications and content, tailored for the holy month of Ramazan. Mozzaker - a Ramazan application 2010 is available on Ovi Store. This updated mobile application can be downloaded on compatible Nokia devices directly from Nokia's Ovi Store for free. Mozzaker allows mobile users to listen, search and translate a large collection of daily Azkar and selected supplications.



Wateen announces 'Winback Campaign'
KARACHI (September 01, 2010): Wateen Telecom has announced an incredibly tempting offer for its subscribers not been using their connections since 30th April 2010. Subscribers who have not been using their Wateen connections will get their outstanding dues waived-off and will also get one month of line rent absolutely free on recharging their accounts. PTCL offering most suitable package for its employees
ISLAMABAD (August 31, 2010): Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) after privatisation is a privately run organisation, which follows private sector practices for the betterment of its employees. The current announcement by the Government of Pakistan for the raise of salaries by 50 percent does not apply to PTCL.



ST from telecom companies: new rules to be needed to transfer collection to provinces
ISLAMABAD (August 30, 2010): The government would be required to issue new 'Sales Tax Recovery and Collection Rules' for the telecom companies empowering them to transfer the collected/recovered amount of sales tax on telecommunication services to the provinces in case any new arrangement is agreed between the federation and provinces on sales tax on services.
