Sugar from USC outlets: ECC may make CNIC mandatory for purchaseISLAMABAD (February 09, 2010): The Ministry of Industries and Production has proposed to Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet to make production of computerised national identity card (CNIC) mandatory for purchase of sugar from Utility Stores outlets. The ECC in its meeting on Tuesday may approve the proposal.

Millers confused over low rate for sugar importKARACHI (February 09, 2010): The lowest bid for import of 50,000 tons of sugar to the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) at $723 per ton (C&F) has confused the sugar millers to procure 0.7 million tons sugar to meet sugar crisis. According to Pakistan Sugar Mills Association (PSMA), the international sugar prices soared to $732 per ton, but the offer for 50,000 tons sugar at $723.20 /ton has confused the millers to procure 0.7 million tons sugar in the country.

Poultry conference on February 23FAISALABAD (February 09, 2010): Faisalabad Poultry Forum and University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) will organise a poultry conference and poultry framers Mela/conference on March 23 at Iqbal Auditorium University of Agriculture Faisalabad. Khalid Mehmood Shouq, PPA leader said that Faisalabad is the third largest city and involvement of more than 2000 poultry experts, farmers, students and other participants make the event a worth seeing.

CSF reiterates commitment to support fisheries sectorISLAMABAD (February 09, 2010): The Competitiveness Support Fund (CSF), a joint initiative of the Ministry of Finance, and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) would continue its efforts to assist the fisheries sector in Pakistan in 2010. A statement issued here said that the CSF has been assisting Pakistan's fisheries sector since 2007 on request from an Inter-Provincial Consultative Committee (IPCC).

Lowest bid of $723.20 per ton sugar import receivedISLAMABAD (February 08, 2010): The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has received the lowest bid of $723.20 per ton for 50,000 tons of white sugar against its first tender for 150,000 tons, but the accompanying bid bond has been established in the shape of a Standby Letter of Credit (SBLC) by Dubai Bank Kenya Ltd in Nairobi for $750,000.
